about

Ed is a former West Virginia coal miner, a proud grandfather, and the founder of Pennies of Promise. He started this organization to raise money to move his granddaughter’s school away from the coal plant and massive sludge impoundment that sit above it. In this interview Ed speaks frankly from his past experience as a miner about the dangers that continue to affect the lives of the children at Marsh Fork Elementary.
